Who We Are

The birth of Interhill Group in 1978 was founded on sustainable forest development. From a small office in Miri, the Group has grown to be an East Malaysia-based privately-owned group of companies with active involvement in the property development and hospitality sectors across the country.

As early as 1990s, Interhill conceptualised the Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre, a development designed based on the ‘live-work-play’ philosophy, a central lifestyle hub. It was one of the earliest of such developments in Sarawak. Interhill went on to curate boutique mixed developments and community lifestyle hubs, and is currently one of Malaysia’s prominent hospitality players, with Pullman Kuching, Pullman Miri Waterfront and ibis Melaka under its portfolio.

We support the development of sustainable and successful businesses which respect the needs and values of all stakeholders, and are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the integration of good Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices into our operations towards the Group’s sustainable growth in time to come.

The late Datuk Hu @ Hii Chang Pee

Founder of Interhill Group

I came to this world with no coins in my pocket. I will leave this world the same way. What matters ultimately is knowing that I have done my part, have helped somebody and made a difference in someone’s life. To me, only this is truly meaningful.

– Datuk Hu @ Hii Chang Pee

Datuk Hu started working at the tender age of 6 to support his family and only commenced schooling at the age of 9 due to financial difficulties. Later, he went on to work in many types of jobs as he wanted to improve the quality of life for himself and his family.

Armed with the experience garnered from his employments and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Datuk Hu subsequently decided to take the courageous step to venture into business – he started business in 1976 with only 2 staff, and as a result of his hard work and dedication, Interhill Group was established in 1978.

The great hardship experienced by Datuk Hu in life had inspired him to make a difference in people’s life. Datuk Hu had always believed that the difference one makes to another, in the society or even in this world, will be remembered, and more importantly, will inspire others to do the same.

Datuk Hu’s life lessons and ultimately, his values became the hallmark of Interhill – we stay committed to people.
