In a bid to assist hospitals in Sarawak, Interhill Group contributed 190 units of wheelchairs to 10 Government hospitals in the Kuching, Miri, Bintulu and Sibu divisions as part of the Group’s annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The wheelchairs were handed over to the Department of Health Sarawak (JKNS) which will assist in distributing them to the hospitals concerned.

On hand to witness the handover of wheelchairs was Kho Teck Wan, Political Secretary to Yang Amat Berhormat Premier Sarawak representing Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, the Special Guest for the handover event.

Director of Interhill Group, Rogina Hii said the Group was made to understand through its communication with JKNS, that various hospitals were in need of new wheelchairs to support the increasing number of patients, as the existing wheelchairs were already damaged due to wear and tear.

‘As a corporate player in Malaysia, helping and supporting our communities are part of our Group’s DNA. Everything we do, we never forget our communities, we never forget those who are in need. We try to involve our communities in some way, in the hope of making a difference in their lives. This is the Interhill Culture.

Hence, our Group is deeply honoured to be able to help and we hope that these wheelchairs are able to assist the hospitals in some way. In moving forward, we aim to step up our efforts in corporate responsibility and we hope to be able to work with the relevant parties, such as NGOs, Ministries and Departments and other parties to improve the quality of our communities’ life. We believe that if our communities are well, we are well too.’

The Deputy Director of JKNS for Medical, Dr. Azlee bin Ayub thanked Interhill for the generous contribution.

‘We appreciate this gesture by Interhill. This contribution is indeed timely, and it will go a long way in adding value to the service rendered by the hospitals to our communities. There is still so much to be done, and with the support of corporates such as Interhill, we can achieve so much more together.’
